Re: What's Cooking...??
Yummo, Vicki, my all time favourite Lemon Meringue pie, followed closely by a lemon tart. These are the only desserts that I would eat occasionally, I mostly eat fruit or a fresh fruit salad.
Re: What's Cooking...??
Vicki, lemon meringue pie is one of my faves too - ties with mum's chocolate cheesecake as my fave dessert. I will be sure to gte you to make me one when I visit Mt G!
Well I was good tonight and cooked my chicken & bacon pasta bake as planned for dinner, which I followed up with a turkish delight icecream and now have the munchies so am currently pecking away at a box of BBQ Shapes...

Re: What's Cooking...??
I whipped up one of my strawberry, cream and Lindt choc sponge cakes after our KFC pig-out and have just devoured a HUGE slice (sooooo naughty - but soooooo yummy)... everyone here is sound asleep (and snoring - yes Miss Six snores too!) I'm too hyped up from the icing sugar rush pulsing through my veins to sleep just yet so I'm hanging 'round waiting for Ant to post the next challenge.

Re: What's Cooking...??
I've just made ANOTHER batch of pancakes/pikelets... The kids can't get enough of them - and they're healthier in their lunchboxes than prepackaged stuff.... Mmmm your rissoles sound yummy Charm I might have to steal that one for tomorrow's dinner - I've a freezer with quite a bit of mince at the moment
Re: What's Cooking...??

Re: What's Cooking...??
Clear fluids for Ray tonight - so the kids and I are just having sausages and vegies. Just another boring meal here....LOL. I hate cooking - especially when it is just for me and the kids.
Re: What's Cooking...??
Poor Ray!
Tonight we are having seasoned chicken breasts, mixed roast veges & gravy...yum!

Re: What's Cooking...??
Ray is fine....well as fine as he will ever be....LOL. He has to have some minor surgery tomorrow and isn't allowed to have anything other than clear fluids today. Oooooh -roast vegies are one of my VERY favs....can I come to your house Sue?
Re: What's Cooking...??
My kids are officially weird!!!! A story for you - it has been a while huh?
I can not stand brussel sprouts, I have NEVER liked them. Like a good girl though I have always eaten them when served up in front of me - but once I moved out of home, that was it! No burssel sprouts for me again. I seriously really don't think I have eaten them in over 20 years.
Well; Matthew was saying something the other day and somehow or another we got on to the discussion of brussel sprouts and he said that he wanted to taste them. Now - being the kind of person I am, I will not deprive my children the taste of something just because I don't like it (intentionally that is), so off I go to the store to buy some brussel sprouts - 4 of them to be precise.
Tonight, because tonight was as good as any night, I added them to the fray of vegies on the plate - just plain old boiled brussel sprouts. I encouraged Matthew to put butter on the table because, in the likely event that he didn't like them, the butter would make them more palatable.
I serve up dinner and Matthew gets given 3 of them, Tori 1. (Yep - I went without for the sake of my kids - the matyr in me couldn't help myself) and both kids are very excited about trying these green little bally things in front of them that look like cute mini lettuces.
Matthew goes first......."yummmmmm - what is there not to like about these Mum?" Tori tries hers, "Yummmm, these are the best". I encourage both of them to try them again......Are you sure you like them? "Yep" the two of them reply in unison as they go for another piece. I am absolutely gobsmacked (for lack of a more appropriate term to describe the combination of shock, awe, amazement all in one). I then, because I am now not sure that I have even bought brussel sprouts, ask to try a piece of Matthews. He obliges (yep - he loves me enough to share his last rollo) [was that an Aussie add or a Canandian one?] Sorry - I digress.
I taste it, yep! It is a brussel sprout! It has that same distinct taste I remember as a kid. Just not as strong. Not quite so itter. Not quite so repungant and I embarrassingly must admit, it wasn't quite as bad as I remember. Have my tastebuds changed or has someone over the past 20 years been breeding the bad taste out of them? I don't know.
Well what comes out of tonight you ask? What did I learn from this experience and what can you take away from this? Well there are three answers to this. One - it was a complete waste of time putting butter on the table as no one used it. Two - Brussel sprouts will be on our menu again and lastly but not least - my kids are weird....yep....they are officially weird!

Re: What's Cooking...??
ROFL I've bred brussel sprout lovers as well - I'm not that keen on them, but they're a green veggie so are tolerated. Nathan ADORES them - to the point i have 2 trays of brussel sprouts in the freezer for when he demands them *sigh* men!!! I think's he's as bad as the kids!! he also loves mashed swede and tripe and lambs fry and all the stuff my brain wont even let me think about let alone cook or eat!!! They breed them weird in Sheffield (sorry Tasmanian joke there)
So right there with ya on the sprouts, they're on the menu.. but not the love of my life!!

Re: What's Cooking...??
hahahah.... I am not a fan of brussel sprouts and we dont eat them unless AShan cooks them! Not sure if the kids like them, but Chei being the boy he is, he probably would love them {because its something different - he doesn't like NORMAL stuff!}
and talking about what we had for dinner - we had the Mexican Chicken I cooked last night revamped - Ashan turned it into curry.... hahahah and we all scoffed it down! yummoo! I also made some home made rissoles too, heaps left, we can have them for tomorrow {ashan and the kids can anyway - i'll be out tomorrow night !}

Re: What's Cooking...??
LMAO about the Brussel Sprouts Ant!! I really don't like them either, but Matt does, so once every few months, i will cook them up for tea, and they all think they are great!! Weird!!
Tonight we had crumbed fish, brocolli, cauli, peas, corn and carrot!! Pretty boring, but went down well!! Although the kiddies had their vegies raw cos they prefer to eat them that way!!
