Week 2 - Styles!
Woohoo, you survived week 1 and are now ready to get started on week 2!!!
Week 2 sees us in the 'style' section of the Monopoly game board! Some of these styles you may have tried before and others you may not have! Either way, we hope you will give them a go! Don't be scared, don't over think them! There is no right or wrong way to do a style challenge! (Style descriptions are below the images if you are unsure of what to do! )
Check out the weekly board reveal below . To see our new challenges and work out which one you have landed on
If you rolled a 1 as your second roll, you are off to CLEAN STREET...
lisajane, Donna O, Letty, PetaJ, bonjovigirl, Melody, Natasha P, Tassiedeb, Morgynlm, In the sticks, Kirsten_Casey
Clean and Simple:
This is a light and elegant style. A Photo and journaling is a key element of a page. A selected background is sole-colored, unostentatious, mostly in light tones, and takes the largest part of the page. Minimum of simple embellishments is used here. Generally, close-up photos could be seen in this style.
If you rolled a 2, its RETRO ROAD for you!
Vicki, Chloe, Echanted Creations, Deb A, Gillian, Mumofheidi, Chook1956, Shiflonmagic99, Sammy1111, CCC
Retro:
Fashion and design of 50s, 60s, and 70s inspires the Retro style. Polka-dot and checker, large flowers, Polaroid photos, retro ephemera, scraps from fashion magazines, advertising booklets, posters, labels of foodstuffs and household items – all these are Retro attributes.
If you rolled a 3, you are cruising down the FREESTYLE FREEWAY!!
Sarah, Rikki, Charlene, Amy, Adrienne, Angie J, TraceyC, Donna, Sue, Erika, Reng
Freestyle:
Freestyle is a style where creativity and flexibility, and a full scope for activities is prevailed. Pages decorated in this style are bright, dynamic, with plenty of hand drawn elements, uncommon journaling, and full of surprising solutions. The creativity is seen everywhere, from a photo selection to an unusual combination of various scrap-products, colors, and techniques.
If you rolled a 4, you have landed on CHANCE!
Belinda Scott, Charm, Ali, Monica, Sandra Scott, Joolz, Craftychelle, MareeP, Dale, Saraau
This is your CHANCE to do something different! :)You can either, a. scrap one of the other challenges from this week, and include a film strip or polaroid frame to your page, or b. complete a photo challenge (see prompts below chance image)!
Photo challenge - you need to take a photo for each of the following prompts and load to the monopoly gallery all in one post. Be creative with your photos!
Photo challenge prompts:
1. Clean
2. Retro
3. Freestyle
4. Media
If you rolled a 5, you are hanging out in Media Mall!
Leanne, Azriel, CladdaghCottage, Buttercup, Julie101, Sarahjs, Michelle W, Pussycat3337, collee65, Mandad, Amahart
Mixed Media:
Mixed Media means “mixed technique” and is a rather difficult style in scrapbooking, although it is become more and more popular. The pages decorated in this style most probably look like a work of art. This is a style of absolute freedom in self-expression; there are no limitations either in technique or in materials used, or in selecting color range.
Most authors, especially in scrapbooking, prefer paper to other materials – splash and painted paper, cardboard, pieces of newspapers and magazines. In addition there are buttons, fabric, metal elements, threads and lacing, natural materials used... whatever your imagination can think of. The page background is usually very live and rich with various graphics; all and sundry works: pens, markers, paints, chalks, inks, etc. Copying is not the done thing in this style as each page is the author’s personal world-view.
If you purchased the SBT50 Monopoly Players Kit, you will find a lot of items that will help with this weeks challenges, in particular, some doilies, and some film stripes and polaroid frames if you landed on chance, from Burdy's Handmade Embellies!!
This week we have an awesome example for you from Ali doing the Freestyle Freeway challenge!
All entries this week need to be loaded to the WEEK 2 - STYLES forum gallery folder by midnight (SA time) on Monday October 21st to be in the running for the weekly prize from {scrAp this}!
Entries can still be entered after the above date, and before midnight Sunday Dec 8th to be in the running for the grand prize!
