This week's challenge to everyone to get your mojo flowing is simple...go through your stash, find your rub-ons, and USE THEM!!! Week 12: Using rub-ons!!! Icon_wink

Anyone who has hoarded rub-ons in their stash for some time (like me) will have learned the hard way that if you keep them for too long, they start to go "crusty", stick to the backing sheets, don't rub on properly, etc. (Manufacturers really should tell people that these products DO have a shelf life!)

Therefore, all us hoarders must this week take a vow to get those rub-ons out of our stash and start putting them on some layouts! I certainly don't want to see any of my stash going to waste because it has become unusable, and I am sure you don't want to either!

Don't forget to share your creations with us if you do take up this challenge...you might even be able to use some on your CC or monthly challenge layouts! Week 12: Using rub-ons!!! Icon_wink

This is a great idea Sue! I have hoarded rub-ons from the start, and to date i haven't had too much trouble with them, but i really should start using them again!!

I actually used some alpha rub-ons for the title of one of my cc chs last night!! Week 12: Using rub-ons!!! 290305

yep shelf life is limited on some brand....some of the dearer ones last longer eg: Basic Grey, Fancy Pants but Kaiser and most of the others will last between 2-12 months depending on weather conditions and how you have them stored...thanks Sue its a great mojo buster this week...clever you!!
Maybe we should start a campaigne to have the Manufacturers state the rub-ons on last a little while, I think that was a good idea to Sue!!

Yep - you are right about different ones lasting for different amounts of time Kathie. My Kaiser ones were the first to go (no surprise coz they were the cheapest), the ones in my stash that have lasted the best are the BG and Hambly ones. (I thought the Imaginisce ones were doing OK until I tried to use them a couple of weeks ago. Week 12: Using rub-ons!!! Icon_rolleyes )

If anyone has any ideas on how we can get this campaign off the ground to have manufacturers perhaps put a "best before" date on rub-ons, then let us know...
(Just think, it would also help when you go into your LSS with knowing which ones have been sitting for a LONG time! Week 12: Using rub-ons!!! Icon_wink )

I've got lots of rub-ons! Rolling Eyes

I had these nice Heidi Swapp alphas that are total crap. A use by date would be awesome! Even a manufacturing date so you can see when they were made! I bought them brand new at my lss and they are useless. I was pretty devo!

And remember rubons are great for non scrappy type OTPs, I did myself up a six framed photo collage and used some Imaginisce rubons and I had so many people asking when I bought the 'beautiful, unique' frame, LOL!
