Firstly - let me apologise for the lateness of this post. Work got in the way today....how dare it! LOL.

Secondly - this months challenge: I have been having a lot of fun playing with different techniques these past few months, sometimes with completely disasterous effects. I can put some pics up of my not so good attempts if you want to see them, but I would prefer not to. Shocked Yep - they are that bad......I digress.

One technique that has really piqued my interest of late is the 'resist' technique. If you haven't heard of it, it is kind of like masking, but you mask with something that will resist the colour that you put over the top of it afterwards. You can use anything really: you could use wax, embossing powder, crackle paint, texture paste.....

Here is a great link on how to use crayons in a resist technique, http://alisaburke.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/creativity-with-crayons.html

and another: http://www.watercolorpainting.com/watercolorpainting/waxresist.htm

and another that uses a cuttlebug: http://www.ehow.com/way_6153496_cuttlebug-resist-technique.html

In this case, due to some poor organisation on my part, the only thing I could find on hand was some Dimensional Magic. I didn't get a perfect result because the DM actually took some of the colour, but a quick wipe with a wet cloth got rid of most of it, and what was left I kinda liked - It gave it a bit of a shabby chic look.

I had a stencil that I had picked up somewhere, a long time ago, for God knows what reason. I pulled it out of hiding and simply placed the stencil on my paper, painted in my 'shape' with the dimensional magic, then let it dry. Once it was dry (well not quite, which I admit is probably the reason it absorbed some colour) I gave it a spray with some glimmer mist and voila - a shape is created.

What I would like for you to do in this challenge is to give this technique a go. You can go whole hog and try doing a whole background with this technique or it can be just an embellishment on your page - it is up to you. I just want to see something on your LO that uses the resist technique.

If this technique scares you totally and you REALLY don't want to give it a go. I will reluctantly accept a LO that has some stamping on it, BUT, the stamping has to be done something that is not usually used as a stamp. Use your imagination.

Here is a link to an example of what I mean: http://pinterest.com/pin/183592122279277306/

and another idea is here: http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.0e0eb51a2e6b5ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=afdf82149f915110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default

Here is my sample here: (Journalling will be added later)

I tried crayon resist years ago, but not on a LO. Glad we have the whole month to play around with this technique, and a less likely to end up in burnt fingers like last month (lol).

Thank you Ant

Cool Sonia. Can't wait to see your finshed LO.

I have just edited a better pic in the original challenge. Still need to add journalling....and maybe some inking around the outside or sewing....still can't decide.

Amanda - yes - your LO is fantastic. I am sorry I got sidetracked and didn't comment on it when I saw it a couple of days ago Embarassed . I was going to say that I love all the the inks on it and how the colours seem to be shimmering on it. I also love the quote you have used. Perfect.

Finished mine today. I had lots of fun too. I borrowed heavily from the list of techniques Sonia used (thanks Sonia Thank You )

I stamped a background on a tag and them wet embossed an image over the top and then I dry embossed the tag and wiped ink over it - I think I should have left that last step out lol but I also used a versamark ink to create a watermark on my cs base and then oversprayed it with mist. Took me a few a attempts to get the look I was after.

My LO's in the gallery now.

Thank you for the challenge Ant, had me thinking and worrying what to do till last night. Inspired by the quote "cats leave pawprints on your heart' and with an appreciation of how softly cats walk I put paw prints across the page. Then had fun inking and wiping off the clear embossing.
