Ant's Inspiration Ch... Empty Ant's Inspiration Ch...

Post by vickstar Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:34 am

I am not going to lie. Scrapping lately does not seem to be coming easily. I want to scrap - I really do. I just don't seem to be able to find the time to lug everything out and play the way I want to. And then, when I find the time to scrap, I just don't seem to have the energy or any inspiration.

Inspiration can come in all forms, magazines, photos, art, clothes, songs - heck - even just driving down the road and seeing something can inspire me. But lately, a lot of my inspiration comes from my new found love - pinterest!
If you don't know what pinterest is - then I think you are missing out. Seriously - it is like bookmarking pages and idea's you find on the internet, but with PICTURES. Being a very visual person - I know that this site was made for me personally . If you are not familiar with pinterest - you can check it out here: http://pinterest.com , but be warned - it is addictive with a capital a.d.d.i.c.t.i.v.e.

While pinning the other day, I came across this image. In all honesty - I am not even sure what I was actually looking for. But this struck me - the colours in this are so different to the 'normal' colour schemes we see. Coral and Navy - who would of thought? I pinned it and set my mind to doing a LO in these colours - one day.

Ant's Inspiration Ch... Ant111

I have also seen a lot of these types of pics: Crayons being melted on to canvases to create art work. I am not overly impressed by this actual pic, seriously, who wants crayons hanging on their wall? OK it could look good in a kids room. But I do love the IDEA behind it and only just recently thought to myself, "I wonder if that could be done a layout?". I wasn't sure, but I was sure as heck gonna try!

Ant's Inspiration Ch... Ant211

So this is my challenge to you is:
1. Take inspiration from the first pic (the colour, the layout, an element of the pic, etc. )
2. Try melting crayon or another technique u have been wanting to try.

Here is my example, which I had a blast creating btw:

The winner of this challenge will receive an awesome prize from Handmade Halo!!
Entries must be loaded to the correct Gallery folder by midnight July 31!

Interesting challenge Ant, and as usual, a lovely LO. I know just what I want to 'play with', will have to find the right photo.

Awesome challenge Ant.
I have been admiring that crayon melting technique for a while now. So this challenge could be just the kick I need to give it a go!
Love your sample layout.

I've some mineral meltz that have not seen light of day, mostly because I dont have an old frying pan (that works on induction) to melt them. And I have only used them in moulds to make buttons etc. my vision of droplets of gold and blue never eventuated. Thankfully there is no spycam to record me make a mess trying to melt the powder in a mini fondue , then resort to heat gun. Mecurial beads that instantly set into ball bearings that later roll off page. Having so much fun with the 'gun' I decided to torture some vellum and see what happens. Interesting.
Thanks Ant, lots of fun and I didn't even set off the smoke alarm.

I'm done and I have a burnt finger for my efforts! When my alcohol inking wasn't going quite the way I wanted, I decided to break out my (until today) never-used iRock and I also tried out inking with a template. Very happy with my efforts, I'll take a pic and upload tomorrow.

Thanks for getting me out of my scrappy rut Ant Wink

Hehe, don't be too sorry about my finger Ant, I stuck it on the end of the iRock because I was curious about hot it would get. Uh the answer is very hot lol. I have a pic of my LO ready to load once Vicki gets a chance to sort of the gallery's hissy fit Smile

Oh and I really enjoyed using this colour combo - who knew I had so much coral in my stash?!

Fabulous Sonia. I will have to check out your blog later tonight. Just quickly posting to let you know. The gallery space is full. So you won't be able to upload there at the moment.
We are just deciding on June challenge winners then Vicki can remove the June folder ti make some space. Won't be long.
Feel free to share it in this topic in the mean time if you like.
