Somebody I know has decided they want to take up scrapping. I am putting together a list of things that I think she will need to start. Just wondering if anyone here wants to add some things that they think are esential/important to scrapping. Thanks a bunch for your ideas.

The List
Scissors
cutting mat
cardstock
PP
black journalling pen
glue or double sided tape
ink (at least a brown and a black)
Some form of alphas
Membership to Top 50 (hehe)

Ant, I would also add...
stapler!!!
metal ruler (for use with craft knife)
good desk lamp (if planning to scrap at night)
a stronger adhesive for heavier embellishments (like DM or Pritt)

oh and once she gets going, definitely some Spritz or Glimmermist!!! New to scrapbooking Icon_wink

New to scrapbooking Lol I don't even have some of the things on this list. I will pass it on to her tomorrow and she can decide how much she needs (and can afford). New to scrapbooking Icon_wink

Yeah, maybe take out some of the things that aren't so necessary - like paper cutter etc. I only got one of those last month!! Before that I got on quite nicely with a $2 metal ruler, $9 cutting mat and a $3 craft knife. She could get scared off with too much to buy at first!! Shocked

I can't believe that you think a cutter isn't necessary!!! Shocked I tried first up with a craft knife and metal ruler, but found that I really couldn't cut a straight line and have everything match up........its why my earlier LO's are all torn papers Very Happy
I guess its just another one of those things that make us all us and different!! Very Happy :lol!:

Hehe - my cutter was literally my first purchase from a creative memories party and I hardly ever use my craft knife - it is scissors all the way for me. I think I might have to bring my friend around and let her have a play before she decides.

mainly I use my craft knife for cutting our delicate things, tiny leaves and stems and itty bitty flowers etc, I also use it to cut circles from paper with the help of a saucepan lid Razz its easier than scissors....I agree Ant, let her try them all so she can make her mind up.....what suits one doesn't always suit all!! Very Happy

I use my cutter so often that i have to replace the blade at least once a month!! Smile As for cutting with a knife and ruler, i never end up with a straight cut!! Sad

I made do with a craft knife and metal ruler that i had 'borrowed' for dp and a cheap papercutter from, I think from Big W , it was around $5 came with it's own mat and it serviced me for ages, then my sister upgraded her cutter so I got her old one. I couldnt find spare cutters for it tho. Then I got an email from blue bazzaar, they had a stash of damaged mm cutters goin really cheap and bought one. the only thing wrong with the one I got was one of the hinges is broken, it was dirt cheap for such minor damage!
