Ant's seasonal challenge. Empty Ant's seasonal challenge.

Post by redant Fri Jul 01, 2011 11:42 am

This last month has been a crazy one for me....maybe because winter has kicked in and everything is in slow mode (OK maybe it hasn't been as slow as I would like). Some of the things that I associate with winter are sitting in front of the TV cuddled up to hubby and kids watching some good movies, nice thick stews, going to watch my son play footy (rugged up to the max), sitting in front of the open fire and chatting for hours with family. I also have to listen to my hubby expain how winter just aint winter in Australia, because for some reason he misses the minus 20 degree weather (and worse), the ice, shovelling the driveway and having to plug in the car overnight so it doesn't freeze....seriously!

Anyway - I digress! This month I would like to see a LO that focuses on some of the joys of winter and something that you, or someone you love, enjoys about winter. Now that would be a very simple LO on its own, so just to make it a little more challenging...

I would like to see lots of texture on your LO
and I would like to see a handmade title....

Here is my sample:
Ant's seasonal challenge. Footy_11

This LO will need to be in no later than 12 midnight on the 31st of July.

The winner of this challenge will recieve a $25 voucher from Scrapbooking Haven!!

Oooooohhhhh... Ant, I LOVE your layout and the challenge is waaaaay easier to head my head around than last months accetate one!!!
(Which, by the way, I have finally uploaded to the gallery thanks to Vicki's very kind extension!).
I have sooooo many ideas racing around in my head that I'm getting dizzy (well, dizzier than usual anyways...)

Thanks gals...

Mandy - yep - I wanted something footbally but couldn't find anything...so I attacked the sport section of the newspaper and basically paper mached it to the background and then whitewashed it. I had a blast doing it and Matthew is happy that his team can still be seen. (BTW - I DO NOT agree with his team choice!!!!)

ALSO - For those new to scrapping, be warned....newspaper is NOT considered acid free or archival safe - so over time it can turn yellow and can potentially ruin your photos. (I don't really care that much about that.....but thought I should let you know.)

Great challenge Ant, would love to give this one a go this month - is it a textured background that you want or just want texture on the lo?

I am going to enjoy a winter-themed challenge! It is the beginning of summer here and hot & humid along the Great Lakes of Michigan! ROFL

BTW-
For those new to scrapping, be warned....newspaper is NOT considered acid free or archival safe - so over time it can turn yellow and can potentially ruin your photos. (I don't really care that much about that.....but thought I should let you know.)
We have an acid free spray for the use with newspaper for scrapping articles on your pages. It is called "Make it Acid-free!" and the company that makes it is Krylon. It costs about $10 U.S. but I bought it at a half price sale at Hobby Lobby. Maybe it is available to you there or another product like it.

Boy was I happy to work on this challenge. We are in the hottest part of the summer and it is terrible humid esp here around the lake. in the 90s(F) or 40s(C)! It was wonderful to think about ice and snow!
