Tips for submitting...
(As advised by Sherry Mendoza, former technical editor for SM on 'Chat with Charm')
Tips for Submitting!
1. Ensure that the photographs of your projects layouts are really clear, it is sometimes hard to tell if it a project will work in the magazine if it looks blurry and dull looking on the computer screen.
2. Take photos of your projects straight on in good light, this is really important so they can easily judge the size of the layout.
3. It is okay to send up to 10 layouts in one email, keep in mind if they accept or reject they will only respond with one email. For example if you send 10 layouts and they accept one, they will only send you back an acceptance letter for the one selected.
4. It is a great idea to give your images the actual name of your project, this makes it easy for they to identify it quickly and to also give the project your chosen title.
5. When sending your project in, try to picture it the size of the layouts in the magazine approx 2 x 2 inches, small, dark or very pixilated photos on projects generally don’t work well when they are shrunk to this size and can just look blurry which does not do any justice to your project.
6. Check out the website www.craftlovers.com and the latest issue of the magazine for Submission themes.
7. Do not send the materials list or any instructions until you receive an acceptance letter.
8. There is no need to write a lengthy explanation at this stage, if they need more information we will definitely contact you.
9. If you have never been published please let them know that you are a “newbie”.
10. Please ensure that you send them your updated contact details if they have changed so they can update the database, very important to ensure you receive your payment!
11. Keep a copy of all invoices, materials list and other info … it does happen that occasionally things get misplaced and they may need to re-ask you for the information.
12. Check your spelling of your titles and in your journalling
