I'd love to say I have a favourite but I don't own one Sad (In fact, I've never even used one.) One day (when the tree out the back grows some money...lol) I would love to start with a Cuttlebug. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on their favourites and why?

Well... I must confess. Embarassed I'm a machine junkie! Embarassed I own a Cricut, a Cuttlebug and a Silhouette (from Quickutz) and I love them all! They all have there good and bad points. The Cuttlebug is not too expensive and can cut and emboss but you can spend a fortune on all the dies and embossing folders. It can cut through thin chipboard - which is a feature that I just love and the fact that it can emboss is a real bonus!! I love my Cricut too (for different reasons). Although the cartridges are quite expensive, you get quite a lot on them and you can cut any size between 1 and 5 1/2 inches!! It is also real easy to use! The Cricut has a few bonus features, like cutting a shadow behind your letter in a different colour, which I really like. They also brought out the deep cut blade which should allow you to cut through chipboard but I haven't tried it yet.
The Silhouette is probably the one I've used the least and probably for the simple reason that you need to use it with your computer. It is really versatile! You can cut any font already installed on your computer and in just about any size you'd like. You can cut silhouettes from other programs and from the internet and you can buy some online of their website as you need them. It is not as easy to use as the Cricut but once you get use to it, it's probably the one you can do the most with!
I hope I didn't bore you all to tears with all my information and that it will help in some way... Smile

When I lived in England half the ladies seemed to have Craft Robos. I haven't seen them so much here.
I have a Cuttlebug- it was a Christmas present. A local LSS had a special (same as everyone else's special, as it turned out, but they were the first one to email the special to me!), I pointed the ad out to my husband, he said 'Are you sure that's what you want? Right, we'll go tomorrow.' Smile I want more dies for it though- Quickutz alphas and borders, and Spellbinders dies.
And I totally covet the electronic machines- any of them would do me. A Cricut, a Silhouette, a Slice. Smile

I have a CB machine, & I use it quite a lot, both to cut & emboss, but ATM the embossing is winning :lol!:

I have a cuttlebug, that i got for my birthday in March. I mainly use it for embossing, especially on cards. Haven't used it much for actual layouts yet. I don't have many dies, but do have a few embossing folders to play with.

I also have a sewing machine that i used heaps for a while, then i packed it away. I have just got it out lately to make a quilt so i was thinking i should attack some layouts with it while it was out!!

Hi everyone. I'm new here and thought id add something today. I don't Downes a machine yet, but I'm just starting to save for a Silhouette cameo. I hope that I can buy one sooner than later. A good friend has a bigshot which I like and I've tried the cricuts and although they are fun, I can see already that the silhouettee is more for me. I spend a fair bit oftime in our office/music room and I am more about project life and ali edwards style of memory keeping than the styles with all the embelishments so for me, its more about clean lines etc and taking my time than getting layouts done quickly.

I have enjoyed reading everyones answers too;Smile

Hi Beke welcome to the forum! Are you signing up to our big monopoly competition?
See here:

I have the original silhouette, I used it for a year or so. But when i moved from a PC to a MAC I lost all the cutting files I have purchased.
But I loved the silhouette it was awesome!

I bought the Silhouette Cameo a few months ago as an impulse purchase after seeing it advertised in a magazine i was reading, wasn't sure if I'd use it much but figured if it started collecting dust I'd sell it on. I was originally going to purchase the portrait but our LSS only had the cameos and I didnt want to wait to order one online Very Happy Im in love with it, it hasn't really had a week off at all since I got it, definitley the best impulse buy ever! I love that I dont need to have the computer to use it either as it has an SD card slot. I have a big shot too but found that i was only using it for embossing as the price of the dies was a lot higher than the folders.
