Challenge 4: 'Flip for the 50's'
The 1950’s was a time of conformity, there was nothing wild or risqué. Dresses were worn all the time and girdles and petticoats were mandatory. Heels and gloves were required to complete the look. Swing skirts, including the poodle skirt and the pencil style skirt were very popular!!
Fads of the 1950’s included the Hula Hoop and the Yo-yo. Telephone cramming was also very popular in the 1950’s!! The idea behind telephone cramming was just as it sounds, to cram as many people as you can into a telephone booth!
I think the slang of the 1950’s is very funny, particularly as I grew up in the 80’s, so I’ll pick a couple of examples for you that I find funny: Back seat bingo (necking in a car), cookin’ (doing it well), Fat city (Happy). I could go on and on, but I will let you all have a look at the slang for yourselves here: http://www.fiftiesweb.com/fashion/slang.htm.
So…. To get to the challenge…..
You need to create a layout in the vintage style, including circles and an embellishment cluster. Your layout must also have a title or subtitle that comes from the 1950’s slang list!! J Have fun and happy scrapping!! J
Here is my example:
Entries will need to be uploaded into the Let’s Go Retro! Crop gallery - Flip for the 50's Challenge Folder by midnight, October 28th. The winner of this challenge will receive a $20 Bazzill Pack!!
