Scrapping a wedding invitation?

I got a gorgeous wedding invitation a couple months ago - all acid free materials & I intended on (maybe) doing a double layout (or not) 'cos I had intended on going to my friends wedding 2 weekends ago therefore would have photos to add to it. I've been sick with infections/a cold that developed into the flu so I told her I might not be able to go (I didnt want to spread my germs to her/the guests. Then my anxiety disorder flared up 2 days before hand & it just got to the point where I knew I couldnt go . Anyhoo because I didnt get to go I obviously have no photos. So would it be strange if I just scrapped the invitation first & then down the track when things settle ask for her to email the photos so I could get them printed?
