Stop 7 - Africa!
Hello and Welcome to Africa.
For this leg of the trip you get to visit arguably one of the most amazing and unique continents in the world.
How do you capture the essence of Africa on paper without using every cliché in the book? For the international traveler and adventure seeker there is one name more than any other that conjures up images of exotic travel. From the pyramids of Egypt, to the winelands on the cape and from Algeria to Zimbabwe, there is no continent quite so rich with spectacular variety as Africa.
Africa is home to the Sahara Desert and Kilimanjaro. It is the Source of the Nile, the home of open plains, palm fringed coastlines, jostling dhows and exotic islands. Be truly awe inspired by the complexity of the hand built pyramids or the Sphynx in Egypt; or by the natural beauty of the Victoria Falls.
Africa’s natural history alone would make a dozen visits worthwhile – where else on earth can you fall asleep to the sound of lions roaring, or watch a million flamingos take off from the waters of a remote soda lake? For the animal lover, an exotic and unique range of animals from apes to zebra's can be seen.
Yes, parts of Africa boast scenery so spectacular they’ll damn near blow your mind, but the true essence of Africa is found in the spirit of the people – pushing, shoving, sweating, dancing, singing and laughing. You can not help but fall in love with the African people.
Have fun bartering with merchants among the cool and narrow streets of an Arabic medina, dance to the thumping reggae beats coming from a West African market stall, or shoot the breeze with fishermen under Indian Ocean palm trees, and you’ll be struck more than anything else by the honesty, warm-heartedness and vitality of the African people.
Although Africa is not always the world’s easiest place to travel in, it is not the hell hole full of civil war, plague, famine and violent crime that is so well known for. It is a fantastic, enlightening, surprising and intriguing continent. Africa is a book that once opened can never be closed. One thing is for certain, once you have visited Africa, you will be compelled time and again to return.

Re: Stop 7 - Africa!
Do you want to know something. I bought paper for this challenge about 2 months ago when planning it! (It is OK - I don't get an advantage or anything because I am not eligible for prizes).
Do you want to know something else.....? I am likely not going to get this challenge done.....GRRRRR.. Or RRRRROOOOAAAAR - being we are in Africa.

Lol ant, I know how u feel, I have been sitting on this layout since July when we were planning the race!
Sorry about the upload folder not being ready, I had a few drinks with some friends last night and didn't get to my lappy. We have also had storms all day today so I will have to try do the album from my phone!

Re: Stop 7 - Africa!
Hahaha Ant, that is something I would do... oh well, the best laid plans and all that.
Vicki I hope the storms bring rain but not damage. We have had unseasonably cool and rainy weather here the past few days... I wonder if that has made its way across to you

Re: Stop 7 - Africa!
Sue-maree, we have had some stinking hot days compared to normal for this time of year the last few days -averaging one hot day a week, lol! - and the storms are all noise and lights. Not much rain in it at all! could have done with a good rain to fill the tank. We did go out and peg the trampoline down today tho in case the winds pick up again. I only rebuilt it the other week after it was damaged in strong winds in sept!
Re: Stop 7 - Africa!
Well that's not right! If you are going to the trouble of having a storm it might as well bring rain
