Toot, Toot!!!

Just thought I would up put my little toot for the day as I have just found out that I won the February challenge at the Out of the Hat challenge blog!!!

Don't be sorry, blow your bugle! That is an awesome layout Sue!!! I think it's my fave of all time of yours (although they are all lovely). I love it heaps! I've never heard of that challenge blog. Hey, did you photoshop the colours? You MUST (please lol) show us on the tips and techniques thread how to do this. I'm sure there's a few of us (like me) who don't know how to produce this wonderful effect!

Chantal, the pic isn't photo-shopped as such, but I did take it using the colour-accent feature on my camera. I just set it to a colour (eg, pink), and then it takes the photo in black and white except for anywhere pink appears. I love this effect, but sometime it is hard to get "clean" shot with some colours.

As for the colour feature on your camera, i have never heard of that before!! I probably have it but just don't know!! lol!!

I have a Canon Ixus (point & shoot) and it is one of the modes available on the menu. You can set it to any colour you want - you just zoom in on something and set it. Have a look at your camera / manual - you might have it too!

Chantal...do you have photoshop? If so and you don't have the colour-accent on your camera - I could probably put something together to explain how to get this effect or at least find a good link. Let me know. Another cool effect - not quite the same - is to simply lower the saturation of your photo to aound 10 in your regular photo editing software. It leaves only a slight amount of colour in the photo and looks really awesome with some photos.

I don't have that feature on my camera. I read all the instructions when I bought it and I know it's not on there. I have never heard of that before! No, Ant, I don't have Photoshop either. I could definatley try the saturation effect though, thanks for the tip!

Chantal, I just thought - have you ever tried "painting" your pics??? I know that is how they used to add colour in the days before colour film, and figured if anyone could master this technique, it would be you (our resident artist!) I am not sure what sort of paint / ink you would use on a photo, but am sure it would be easy enough to find out? Just a thought!!!

Great thought, Sue!!! I did that in photography class and it's really cool! I think watercolours are best. I did 5 years straight in HS of Photography, got an A, and use a point and shoot. LMFAO!
