Do you buy these in a store or is there a recipe going around?

ALSO ... anyone here Canadian who can tell me if we have something similar ...
or identical but with a different name?

I've only known about the Violet Crumble that you can buy at the shops. The only other thing similar than I think of is Cadbury's Crunchie (which I like much more). Very Happy

Violet Crumble is an Australian chocolate bar, although (according to Wikipedia) it is also common in Hawaii and in places like Hong Kong! The most similar product available (which like Chantal I also prefer) are Cadbury Crunchie bars which I believe are available in Canada?

Lcuie, you should see if your son can pick one up for you at a store when he is here! About Violet Crumble Icon_wink

YES ... We do have Crunchie bars.

And you are right, I could ask him ... We talk like every 2 days via Skype. Funny I had not thought of asking him to bring a bar back.

Hey there Lucie...here is a link for making chocolate covered honeycomb http://www.cooksrecipes.com/candy/chocolate-covered-honeycomb-recipe.html . I have never tried this recipe, but have mad it before and I don't remember it being hard to make. The honeycomb in a Violet Crumble is cheweier and thicker than that of a crunchie. HTH.

Yeah Cruchies are a finer kind of honeycomb.
You can usually buy choc covered honeycomb if you can't fine the VC ones.

Very interesting! :p

The main downfall with Violet Crumble would have to be the chocolate. Shocked

You are Sooooooo sweet. Makes me want to move to your country. Smile

As for my son's trip ... a series of highs and lows I guess. He first rented a car to drive (on the left side !!!) from Sydney to Cairns. Had to drive back to Sydney because all was flooded.

Then took a plane to Cairns. Got on the boat - for 4 to 5 days. They cannot go as far as they were supposed to go because of a "cyclone" ... What's the English name ??? News stop here ...

More to come

The same people who thought of dipping Tim Tams in Milo when each corner of the biscuit has been bitten off and then suck, shove it all in, and have a mouth full of Tim Tam explosion heaven in their mouth! Razz
