I'm not looking forward to the day my DD starts hers. I reckon I have another 16 months to go as she is just over 11.

Just trying to come to terms with my DS who is not 13 until December. We measured his height yesterday and he is 5ft 7 inches. Only another 3 inches and he will be as tall as me. His feet are already bigger. In fact he has the biggest feet in the family Size 11 men. Based on his age at 2 1/2 he should be 6 ft 2 but I reckon he might get another inch taller. Oh, and he eats like a horse. Forever hungry!!

My girls both stated at 12 years old, about 3 months before they turned 13, and it was a bitter sweet moment.

It will hopefully settle down and just be a normal part of life soon V! My dughter is 14 now and also started just after her 13th birthday! Poor girl had to get use to it very quickly because she's a swimmer with a crazy training routine! And to top it off... Icon_eek I can also add that my 16 year old son is taller than me and I'm 1.8m (I think that's about 5'10 or maybe more!) He is definitely going to be 2 meters plus when he eventually stops growing! He has huge feet too! And to top it off... Icon_rolleyes I do like tall men though (giving my own hight). And to top it off... Icon_biggrin

Oh poor darling, I hope she is feeling Ok and dealing with it alright.

My Goddaughter was only 11, but she is fine with it, apparently most young girls find it cool.... :?:

Oh dear V - good luck with it all!

This thread for some reason reminds me of the book "Dear God, it's me Margaret" by Judy Blume Does anyone remember it? We all read it when we were kids and it was about a young girl who desperately wanted to become a 'women' and her prayers to God about it. It was fantastic! Wonder if it would be applicable today? My eldest started at 10! I was devastated for her..and me! She had a bad time from the beginning but it is sorted now. My second DD was 13 and has never really had a problem thank goodness...I hope that keeps up too. I am sure it will all settle and work out for your DD too.
Of course the two guys in the house can't win with three women all at different cycle stages! And to top it off... Icon_lol

I had that book! I LOVED Judy Blume! The only Judy Blume book in my house now is her most recent one (which is for grown-ups).

As far as books that are applicable today, I was talking to my SIL the other day and she has a fabulous book by Aussie psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg called "Princess Bitchface Syndrome: Surviving Adolescent Girls". She HIGHLY recommends it to anyone with teen / pre-teen girls.
