A DUSTY day!!!

Well it certainly was a dusty day in our part of the world today!!!

I am sure that almost everyone has seen the spectacular pictures of the amazing red dust storm that engulfed Sydney earlier today...a very rare sight. The dust storm also made it's way up to SE Qld and left us (and everything in its path) coated in a layer of dust....yuck! We could see it coming on the horizon up here on the Sunshine Coast, and by early afternoon the strong winds had blown it right in. It was very eerie - it looked like a "bushfire sky". The worst part was the smell, the taste and the feel of it all over you, not to mention the dusting of the house that lies ahead!. (MY asthmatic DP didn't fare too well either.)

I didn't manage to get any pictures, but am sure some of you out there must have some great ones...feel free to post them up here and show us what it looked like in your corner of the world!

Ewwww saw it on the news tonight......not good at all. I was amazed at how thick it was and how dark everything got!! Glad that you are okay Sue. Thinking of you all in the affected areas.

Great pic Robyn! (I knew someone would have a cracker pic.) We didn't get such an intense colour at our place.
I spent the day today dusting, vacuuming and wiping stuff down, only to hear on the news tonight that we could be in for another dose of it on Saturday!

It is not quite the same angle but you can see the differnece. This is looking towards Canungra and Tamborine Mountain is in the middle of the photo.

WOW! That's amazing...what a difference a day makes! (And bad news is that there is more heading our way tonight, only it won't be quite as bad as the other day.)

Yes however I am heading down to Sydney this afternoon..just about to leave for the airport! I hope it isn't worse down there. At least I will be with my mum.

I'm on Brissy and I can smell it constantly tonight. Have shut everything up but still finds it's way. Poor little DD isn't sleeping well either. I wonder how bad it is to be breathing?

It certainly didn't help asthmatics I know.

My DP is asthmatic and he had terrible trouble with the dust. I spent a massive day here on Monday cleaning EVERYTHING to get as much out of the house as I could. (I must have done OK coz he slept better on Monday night.) I saw a statistic on the news the other night and they were saying people exposed outside for periods of a couple of hours were likely to inhale 2 milligrams of dust! Definitely can't be good for the system!

I know and I have found it has stayed with us a bit too.
