Sue's Technique Challenge!
I can't believe this is my final challenge of the year for you all!!! And being my final challenge, I couldn't set just any old scrappy challenge for you, could I??? This one is all about challenging yourselves and trying SOMETHING NEW!!!
I am sure many of you have seen the recent explosion in popularity of "mixed media art" and how it is currently influencing many scrapbookers. If you are anything like me, you are in awe of the talent of many of these artists and have wanted to give it a go yourself...well here's your big chance!
For anyone that doesn't know much about mixed media art, it is a broad definition that covers many arts and crafts, including collage, assemblage (both 2D and 3D), altered objects, including books and boxes, handmade greeting cards, artist trading cards (ATCs) and tags, art journalling and book making.
The “mixed media” used includes paints, papers and board of all descriptions, glues, buttons, fabrics, found objects, photos, metal bits, fibres, things from nature, inks, pencils, crayons, markers, pastels and polymer clays, to name a few.
For this challenge you can push yourself as much or as little as you like. If you are more comfortable creating a layout / set of 3 cards / set of 9 ATC's, then you are most welcome to. If you would like to push yourself a little bit further, why not try doing a canvas / book / home decor item or something else?
The key to this challenge is the techniques you use. It's all about trying SOMETHING DIFFERENT to what you would usually do! Experiment with new materials (or ways of using old ones), discard all your inhibitions and usual scrappy "rules" and just go with the flow and CREATE!!!
I decided to create a canvas for my sample...

(For anyone that is interested I have written a basic tutorial on how I created this canvas and posted in the 'Tips & Techniques' forum.)
Entries for this challenge will need to be uploaded to the entry thread HERE by THE END OF THE YEAR (hehe), that is, midnight 31st December.
UPDATE: you now have until lunchtime New Years Day to upload your entries!
The winner of this challenge will receive an awesome prize from WICKED PRINCESSES...well worth playing along for! (As if the challenge wasn't incentive enough!)
