Oct Monthly Chat... Empty Oct Monthly Chat...

Post by vickstar Sat Oct 01, 2011 10:53 am

Well i know i say it every month, but can you believe it is already October?? That means Christmas is approaching way too fast!!

Anyway, for those of you not wanting to watch the AFL Grand Final today, why don't you get a start on our October challenges?! Sue put her awesome 'triple P' challenge up for us last night, and i will be loading mine and Ant's shortly. My little miss was up pretty much all night and didn't get into a proper sleep until 6.30 this morning, right when Daddy had to get up for work, so all i can say is i am very happy it is Saturday and i didn't have to get up for the school run!! Matt gave the kids breaky before he left, and they are happy to just watch TV in the morning so i was able to stay in bed til 10am!! Smile I haven't quite finished my example for my ch yet, but will load the challenges up and edit my example in a little later! Smile

What is everybody else up to today?? We aren't watching the footy as the kids hate watching it, so i think we might head to town and have a browse thru the shops and get some groceries while the shops are quiet!! Smile Matt took one of our TV's to work so he could watch the GF there!! lol!!

It is quite cold, windy and very rainy here. Yes, Vicki, Christmas will be all too soon! It is getting into Fall all too quickly here for me. We have Halloween the 31st of this month and I wondered if you girls celebrate it there or maybe it comes at another time for you in your Fall? I, personally love Halloween as much as I do Christmas as far as fun family times go. We actually have Halloween stores that are open from now up until Halloween with costumes and party favors. I just developed a dozen pix that Terri sent of the grandkids (and her husband) trying on some of the hats and masks. I have some nice ones for scrapping.

I don't think many Aussies celebrate halloween the same as you do, but since moving into town from a rural area, for the last 5 years I have had treats for the children in our area, also my niece & nephews dress up for trick/treat & I'm the first stop for them, here is what I did for them last year

Thank you for letting me know about Halloween practices. What cool decorating! I have all the challenges down on paper and have been making decisions on what I plan to do (along with 6 others from another forum). I love the way both forums that I frequent, post the challenges because I really enjoy all the time to work on pages that are pleasing to me instead of the "hurry and think of something and get it pasted". I am able to be creative and enjoy what I am doing without being rushed. It leaves a clear head for the crop and I don't find myself with "scrap-freeze" needing a few days break from the craft I really love.

Another cold, windy and rainy day here as this storm passes through. The cats don't want to go outside and spent the first night since Spring in the house where they are warm. Even the dogs have to be forced to go out after they have asked to go to do their business. One dog actually must be shoved through the gate of the fence because he rather stay back inside.

Not started yet Vicki. My scrap room needs a clean before I can. But am thinking about them.

We don't do Halloween here either. But those that do it's always the same time as you guys. That being said it's my birthday on the 29th and my friends reckon they are going to be doing a halloween thing for me this year, so who knows

Loving the challenges so far!! I finish placement on the 14th October so I am really hoping I can get the challenges done this month, and the cyber crop... Wish me luck Wink

Sue's is just divine, and I'm sure I can find something suitably girlie for it!! Smile I might have to scrap photos from our 3 year anniversary last month.

I haven't been doing many LOs lately though so Vicki's card challenge is just perfect for me!! I need all the excuses I can find to start my Christmas cards! Wink

And the quote for Ant's challenge is just divine! Love it to pieces Smile

The weather is more seasonal here now that the storm has passed/ It is still overcast and alittle windy but it is 10 degrees warmer. My basement flooded with all the rain (and the plumber says there are roots in the pipes) so I will be cleaning out the basement for the next month. We already have 25 large trash bags full of clothes and stuff. It needed to be cleaned anyway since it was packed with stuff my sister left when she moved to a 4 bedroom house and more from when she returned to move into a 1 bedroom apartment in a senior community. I am not even going to mention junk from my sons, late husband, and etc.

Post by armonies great gram Thu Oct 06, 2011 12:02 am

OH, I can see the interest in seeing the damage of the flooded basement before se started cleaning! Sorry! I could have gotten ones before and after the water went down but I felt so depressed at the mess that I could hardly look down there to see how much water was there. Frank used a yardstick and said there was a foot of water after all the storms and it was quite an improvement after we pumped and the sewer cleaner had come and gone. There was so much water that it even lifted the metal storage cabinet when it was at its highest point. It was bad enough to see it after the floor was dry again.

Your aunt left so much when she initially moved and I had stuff along one was since she left every cupboard and closet full as well. Then when she moved back with a 4 bedroom houseful and made her last move, I was left with a basement packed halfway to the ceiling and hardly anyway to integrate my own stuff into the house. It is about a third of the way cleaned out and I am so excited about having everything the way it should be very soon. At least my antiques and prized possessions were in closed plastic containers! Don't feel badly, be happy that I am finally getting here things out of the house. I am! I will send a photo of the finished basement before I waterproof the walls.

The flu took care of me this weekend ruining all my scrapping plans, so I'm sorry to say I have only managed one challenge this month and I managed to miss part of the instructions on it too lol. Will write them down properly for next month! I'm not normally this scatter brained promise:D Looking forward to checking out the gallery and what everyone else has done.
