October/November Double Issue 2011 Call Descriptions
Deadline: September 30, 2011

Scrapbooking Strut Your Stuff

Strut Your Stuff: In each issue of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, we spotlight scrapbook pages of any style and genre. We're currently looking for pages in traditional paper scrapbooking that feature a clearly defined style such as Clean and Simple, Dark and Industrial, Eclectic and Freestyle, Romance and Pretty Chic, Whimsical or Fantasy, and others just ripe for the picking.

Scrapbooking

Color of the Month – Purple/Lavender: How will you use purple on your pages? Projects can be of any theme or subject but you must use at least 80% of the “Color of the Month,” so think monochromatic color scheme with a couple other colors to balance it out.

Fall and Thanksgiving: Seasonal layouts are fun to create and even more fun to share. For this call, we’re looking for pages that feature fall and/or Thanksgiving themes but those using non-traditional colors will be given extra special consideration.

Grandparents: They’re such an integral part of our lives and they hold a special place in our hearts. Let’s honor and celebrate them with pages that are dripping with love, respect and joy.

Handmade Embellishments: They’re all the rage and they make such a unique statement on our layouts, as in “Hello, I made that!” Handmade embellies are a great way to add a personal touch and save a bit of money. Please indicate what on your project is handmade.

Hidden Journaling, Pockets & Tags: Sometimes we don’t want to broadcast our feelings to the world and hidden journaling is the perfect way to share but not make it obvious. And sometimes we just want to make our pages a little more interactive and fun by creating pockets and tags that hold notes and maybe even sweet nothings!

New Beginnings: Life is grand and new beginnings – whether positive, negative or so-so – are a wonderful addition to our albums. For this call, meaningful journaling will be given extra attention.

One Word Title – Miracle and/or Strong: Please note that this is a ONE-WORD-TITLE. This means that the title can only be one word and it must be the word of the month. We’re featuring two different words this month as this a double issue. Please do NOT combine the words in one title. One word only.

Scrap Your Stash – Office Supplies: For this call, please only submit layouts that feature office supplies on them – nothing else will be accepted for publication.

Travel & Vacation: Whether chock full of rest and relaxation or party time galore, we want to see pages loaded with your unique experiences around the world.

Sketch: The following sketch is up for interpretation as you see fit – you can create with it as-is, use bits and pieces or turn it on its ear to create a fun but still true to the sketch layout.

Cards

Color of the Month – Purple/Lavender: How will you use purple on your pages? Projects can be of any theme or subject but you must use at least 80% of the “Color of the Month,” so think monochromatic color scheme with a couple other colors to balance it out.

Fun Sayings: Being a goofball can be so much fun and it’s awesome to share our goofy thoughts with others. So let’s see cards filled with fun sayings such as Rock On, Get Your Cake On, Bug Me Anytime and anything you think will crack us up!

Game Pieces/Playing Cards/Tickets: Throw one on or throw them all on your card, but show us lively and energetic cards featuring game pieces, playing cards and/or tickets.

I Love You to Kids: Kids love getting cards, too! Throw in an “I love you” and maybe sneak in a gift card or a piece of candy or “coupon” and you’ve got a recipe for success! No romantic cards will be accepted.

Patterned Paper Strips & Squares: Get geometric on us! We want to see strips and squares of patterned and/or specialty paper that really amp up your cards, and the more the better. Pile it on, baby!

Welcome Home/We’ve Moved: For this call, we’re looking for cards that let people know your new address, welcome home a friend or loved one, or introduce yourself to a new neighbor.

Sketch: The following sketch is up for interpretation as you see fit – you can create with it as-is, use bits and pieces or turn it on its ear to create a fun but still true to the card sketch. All submissions must be cards.

Stamping

Please note that the following calls MUST use stamps. You can’t use patterned paper or embellishments for the following spotlight items, but you can use patterned paper or embellishments elsewhere on your card.

Stamping calls are not limited to just cards. You can submit stamped projects of any type.

Birthday Cards with a Sweet Theme: Cupcakes, cookies, candy and confections, even fruit will do! Show us your projects featuring stamped images that are sinfully sweet.
Halloween: Whether spooky and sinister or sweet and silly, we can’t wait to see your Halloween stamped creations. Don’t forget, your projects can be anything – layout, card, altered art or mixed media project, mini album, etc. It just must have stamped image(s) on it.

Shadow & Background Stamps: How do you use your shadow and background stamps? We want to see creativity galore, so get your artistic groove on and show us how you shake them up.

Digital

All About Me: Time to step out from behind the camera and record a little something about yourself. Send us your digital or hybrid layouts all about YOU!

Journaling Strips: We're looking for layouts that feature journaling on strips, whether it's paper, ribbon, tape, labels, you name it!

Patterned Paper Only: Solids need not apply - we want to see layouts using patterned paper only.

Style: Modern and Graphic: Orderly. Clean. Geometric. Aligned. Just a few of the words that can be used to describe the Modern and Graphic layouts. Show us your take on the Modern and Graphic style.

Mixed Media

Artist Trading Cards -- Angels & Wings: Heavenly, ethereal and delicate are all words to describe just what we’re looking for. Please note that we’re NOT looking for images of fairies or other winged creatures.

Artist Trading Cards – Strut Your Stuff: Grab your 15 minutes of fame and can send in ATCs featuring any theme, style or color scheme.

Inchies – Paper Towel OR Tissue Paper Backgrounds: The possibilities are endless when you’re using paper towels or tissue paper as your background. For this call, you can construct inchies with a background in any fashion and with any theme or color scheme, but your inchies must be ON a base of paper towels or tissue paper to be considered.

Tags – Celestial: You can go literal with the sky, moon and/or the stars or you can interpret the theme in more spiritual and divine in nature.
