Albums......
I finally did it...I went and bought new albums!
The pile of pizza boxes here was just getting ridiculous - I had at least a dozen boxes FULL of LO's, with other assorted ones scattered around the place. I took advantage of the 30% off Lincraft post-Christmas sale and bought myself 5 new albums. The albums were the ones I have always wanted (3-ring, binder style) as these were recommended to me, particularly for "bulkier" LO's. I am so glad I got them, and would now have to say I HIGHLY recommend this type of album, as you can get a lot more LO's in them than my older post-bound ones. The normal price of these albums at Lincraft is about $18, (making them a pretty reasonable buy normally), and they are sold under the 'Paper Xtra' brand. They come in lots of yummy colours too.
The refill sleeves for them are a different story - DONT buy them at Lincraft, they are a rip-off there! These are best bought at Big W, where you can get the Grants Archival ones in a pack of 50 for around $12.
So my next problem was how to sort and file all my LO's???
In the end I decided to just put them in the albums in the order I had completed them, rather than trying to put them in any kind of chronological order. I tend to scrap my pics all over the place, old / new, it doesnt matter to me. I also thought it might look funny having LO's I completed 2 years ago next to something current, due to the massive changes (errr...improvement) in my style.
Soooo I was wondering...
Who puts their LO's into albums? And if so, how do you sort them?
Who needs / wants albums?
PS - yes, I managed to fill all 5 albums and still need to go and buy more...

Re: Albums......
LMAO Sue, how much were the albums on special and when does the sale end?? I need some more!! I love the D ring albums and won't buy anything else now!!
I also tend to just file in the order of scrapping, with an album for Jorja and one for BJ, then a family album!

Re: Albums......
they came down to $12.60 each but the 30% off sale was only for 3/4 days after Christmas. just keep an eye out for their next 30% off storewide sale or for whenever the albums are on special next. If I see something come up I will let everyone know!
Re: Albums......
I've never used the D rings, I get the strap replacements for my post bound ones from Spotty and then some fake leather stuff to make new spines for them I'm still putting them in albums (but I do have a few in a pizza box from last month because I've just not been bothered to put in albums - OMG I never thought I'd say that!! LOL

Re: Albums......
hmmm well i have tubs full of layouts.... and heaps of albums at the start, but i scrap wayyyy too much to keep up with buying the albums, and i prefer to buy scrap stuff rather than the albums, which is probably not great, because i reckon most of the layout would be squashed....eeek!!!
thanks for the heads up sue, maybe i should attempt to buy a few next time they are on sale and at least put last years in albums...

Re: Albums......
I bought an album with some christmas money too. Payed twice that though at $40 from the scrap shop. No Linny here But I do love it. I have one of the other 'normal' scrap albums but even witht the extensions it just looks silly.
Bought those refills from Bug W too.
I need a few more albums though. I'll have one (or a few more hehe) for each of the kids, a family one, probably a holiday one too, although I'm thinking of making mini albums for those.
At the moment in no particular order

Re: Albums......
I only have the post bound ones but they tended to be the only or cheaper option. I know I'd prefer the big ring binder ones! I onyl have about 5 albums all up and I have just filled them all. They are pretty much in the order I scrap and I have loosely tried to theme each album eg holidays, the fiance and I, friends in another etc. I keep thinking I should trim my c/s before I start so they fit in the sleeves nicer (esp when they start to get bulky) but for some reason I always forget to do this!
Re: Albums......
Ring binder albums are awesome sue. I have about 8 of them waiting to be filled. I got the american crafts ones on sale at spotlight a while back.
So the majority of my layouts are on Madeline. I file her layouts in the albums in chronological order. Sometimes is a bit tricky as i don't tend to scrap the photos in chronological order. So i often go and shift things around in the sleeves.
I then have separate album/s for layouts of dwight and i. And i have about a whole two layouts of us
So getting back to your question. I do file them in chronological order. But it can be a bit tricky shifting layouts into different sleeves etc.

Re: Albums......
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Its nice to know what other people do.
Sarah - that was another reason I didn't file mine in chronological order, figured I would be having to re-sort them all the time and getting them into the album was enough work in the first place!
Rach - I have found that even with my bulky LO's, they fit in the Grants sleeves OK and sit well in the binder albums, I would hate to have to trim them!
Charm - you HAVE to get some albums! Your work is too nice to be squashed in boxes!
FYI - for anyone chasing the ring binder albums from Lincraft, they do sell them online for the same price as in store ($18) and I think their postage is only $6.95 or so??? HTH

Re: Albums......
Ring binders are the best.....I do bulky LO's so in normal albums they really don't fit that well and end up looking dreadful.....ring binders are the best of all....thanks for promoting them girls
Re: Albums......

Re: Albums......
I went to Lincraft the other week and bought two of thier D ring albums - love them! Especially since I've been doing bulkier LOs of late.
Right now, I've put all my LOs in those two albums (I've only been scrapping since October...) but I am planning on going through them soon and sorting them out into some sort of system as I have a bunch of empty postbound albums now.
I have a few LOs of my sister so I think I'll put those in a postbound album as I do them and then when it's full I can give it to her. I don't need them.
I also have LOs I've done of my little cousins and other people like that. Once again, I don't really need them, so I might put them in an album of their own as well. Then, when I next travel interstate to see said cousins, I can take them with me and my cousins can do what they like with them.
I mainly scrap photos of my BF and I, which are obviously the ones I want to keep! These can stay in the D ring albums.
The pages I scrap of my photos from my 21st go in a designated album that has the 12" blank pages my guests signed. Need to fill this up a bit more as I have PLENTY more photos that need scrapping. I think I'll print a bunch of photos of my guests as 2x3 photos or something like that (less than 4x6 anyhow) and do a bunch of pages with loads of photos on them.
Sorry for the long post... I'm ranting...

Lani!
Those Lincraft albums are the BEST! I have 5 that are BURSTING at the seams now, plus 3 post bound albums, plus about 7 pizza boxes full of LOs waiting for new albums... (Am just waiting for them to come on sale again.)

Re: Albums......
I think my local store has them slightly reduced at the moment... $17ish I think? I think the norm is $20ish but maybe I'm wrong. Tehe! I'll keep an eye out though I'm definitely buying more when they're on sale. They are pretty darn good!
What album protectors do you use?

Re: Albums......
Thanks Bek!
Yeah, I think it's odd they don't have the sleeves... I bought a 50 pack of sleeves for a slightly ridiculous price from Lincraft, but since I have so many sleeves left from my post bound albums, I think I might just hole punch holes in them and use them!

Re: Albums......
I do have albums (3 ringed binder style) in my store.....they are $20 and come with 10 sleeves which is enough to store 20 LO's.....when I have a special they are about $15...I'm restocking this week hopefully...awaiting on delivery of them from the supplier...so if your not near a Lincraft here is another option for you....I also do sleeves although the supplier is out of these at the moment...waiting waiting
Re: Albums......
Thanks Kathie!! That's cheap, $20.00 with 10 sleeves! I thought the ones at lincraft were a bargain til i saw they come empty and looked at the price of the sleeves!!

Re: Albums......
Ahhhh Kathie - I started typing a message here that you sold them - but when I went to the store to see how much they were (cause I got them when they were on special) there were none there! Very happy to know that some more are coming in this week.....I LOVE the albums and protectors that I got from you - in fact - I don't think there is any going back now!!!! :D:D:D:D:D
Re: Albums......
Thanks heaps Ant!! They are such good quality AND the pages don't fall out when you overfill the album coz they are specially hinged together
Re: Albums......
This sounds like a good option! Especially since I have a $10 voucher for your store Please let us know when they come in Kathie
