Markers/Watercolours?? Empty Markers/Watercolours??

Post by Fiona Fri Apr 15, 2011 4:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to the forum, in fact this is probably only my 2nd or 3rd post since introducing myself earlier in the year Rolling Eyes . I've been enjoying browsing all of the different topics and getting lots of ideas.

I've only been (attempting) to scrapbook since late last year and have done only a few layouts, in between having a go at cardmaking as well. I go to a monthly Stampin' Up workshop nearby and the demonstrator has been really helpful and I've built up a bit of a collection of different things, stamps, chipboard letters, papers/cardstock etc.

At the last workshop we made a card and were introduced to markers and watercolour crayons. I was just wondering what everyone here uses, if they use markers. Is there a certain brand that you would recommend? I have seen and heard of Copic markers which are quite expensive (even on Ebay) but was wondering if there is a very good alternative. The SU markers I used were the double ended ones and is probably what I'd like to get, even though I haven't done any journaling yet.

Any recommendations??

Anyhoo, I'm off to stick the heating on, it's getting quite nippy here in Melbourne affraid .

Thank You for your help and I plan to spend more time posting from now on Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Markers/Watercolours?? Empty Re: Markers/Watercolours??

Hi Fiona, I don't actually have any markers but I have tried the copic ones and they are pretty cool. I know the price of them is crazily expensive, but they do work really well. especially when it comes to blending. I am also pretty positive that I tried 2 other types at a retreat last year, I think one being the stamping up ones (but don't quote me on that)....and they were OK....but no way near as good as the copics.

I have also tried the watercolour pencils and was very surprised at how good they were - even the cheap brand that I have- but the colour was no way near as 'bright' as the markers.

HTH.

Look forward to seeing you around.

I haven't used ny either. Not game to venture into the world of Copics as I have heard it can become very addictive and I so don't need another crafty addiction Smile
I would like some SU markers though for different colour journalling and doodling

Markers/Watercolours?? Empty Re: Markers/Watercolours??

Hi Fiona,

I can pretty much say ditto to what Becci said.
I tend to use acrylic paints and inks on my layouts. But no markers or water colour crayons.

For journalling I just use these

Or if I cant find one I grab any black felt tip pen I can find in the house.

Hope that helps.

Probably ditto at what Becci said from me too Fiona. Wink

I have some watercolour pencils (cheap ones) but don't tend to do much image colouring / blending, so they probably have dust on them! LOL I don't really need another addiction either, so have stayed away from the Copics like Becci. I use just normal fine felt tip pens for my journalling and tend to use a lot of paint and glimmermist on my LO's.
