Hi Everyone

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and have recently taken up scrapbooking. I've done 4 hours of a beginner's course so far and have another 2 hours next week so I'm pretty fresh at all of this.

I have to say it's pretty daunting when you go into a scrapbooking store and see so much stuff , I came out not knowing where to start and what you need to start with but I think I'm slowly learning. I've been a little bit "crafty" in the past having done teddy making, paper tole, crosstitch and wool felting but obviously scrapbooking is so much more creative as you have to think about what you're going to do and what would look best.

I hope by joining here that I'll be able to get ideas and some advice and help if need be. I've been looking at the gallery and the pics are amazing, you're all very talented.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all too.

What I did when I first began was checked out scrapbooking mags & joined online classes - there are a lot of free ones you can check out

A great place to start when scrapping is with a sketch, that you can then match your photo and papers to. We usually have a sketch challenge each month (or a scraplift where you can use somebody elses layout like a sketch), otherwise a good site to find sketches is www.pagemaps.com

Welcome Fiona!!!!!! SBT50 is an awesome forum. I have tried many and just love it here. I've been scrapping for about 2 years now so still fairly new at it all. But I must say the best thing I have found is taking part in the challenges. You get to try all sorts of things, things you wouldn't have even dreamed of. I just love them.
Blog hopping is another way to be inspired. Lots of us have them. There is a blog ist thread here somewhere and many of us have the links in our sigs.
Our CyberCrop starts this monday and goes for two weeks so you have plenty of time to get the challenges done. Don't forget to register for Bingo either!
Charm metioned online classes, well Charm will be conducting one monday week as part of the CyberCrop if you're interested.

Hi Fiona! Welcome to Top 50! (Be warned, it is a seriously addictive realm you are now entering...LOL) I am so glad you found us here though, it is always exciting for us to have "newbies" aboard. As Becci said, we love to see people's work develop as their skills and confidence grow. I know you will find plenty of inspiration and encouragement from everyone here, we are a pretty friendly bunch. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have or ask for help when you need it. Everyone here knows what its like to be new, so will be more than happy to help you out. You are sure to come across LOTS of things that you aren't sure of, or don't know what they mean at first, so just ask!
