Inspiration with Kaisercraft, and more.

Post by scrapbug on Mon Aug 16, 2010 12:12 pm

Hi, I hope you have had a most wonderful week and have been able to put aside a few moments to enjoy some "scrappy" time!
Our Christmas in July Card Challenge has now come to a close. Congratulations go to Jo, voted overall winner of the competition. Jo can enjoy a new EK Success Edger Punch, and a collection of Prima yumminess! Thank you to everyone who participated and made this challenge so much fun, and to our dedicated Design Team for all their awesome work in putting the five challenges together.
Projects for July's Mid-Month Challenge are due in the Gallery by Sunday night. Enjoy this fun Spots, Stripes and Flowers challenge.
New Products in Store: Check the store for some exciting additions that have arrived over the past weeks.

  • Secret Bird Society is the newest collection from Kaisercraft. Enjoy the subtle colours of this range and its matching embellishments; stamps, die-cut elements, journal tags, rub-ons, Skeleton Leaves. The latest Kaisercraft Workshop magazine has also arrived and a copy will be included with each order.
  • Kaisercraft also brings us Lace collection packs and gorgeous Pearl Brads.
  • The long awaited, awesome metal brads for Creative Imaginations' Breathless collection are now in store.
  • Oliver and Olivia are the two newest collections from Basic Grey; great papers, embellishments and mini alphas available for both boy and girl themed projects.
  • Carolee's Creations brings us some awesome papers for those boy/male projects with fast cars and motorbikes, along with really cool matching stickers and "flame" printed grosgrain ribbon

Design Team Inspiration with Beth: This week we are inspired by Beth's projects using Kaisercraft's Up, Up and Away collection.
As you know, I like to set myself little challenges when working with a range. This month I set myself two. One was to use the last 3 months sketches from the forum and the other was to use the same base cardstock. This means I now have to restock my Bazzill Swiss Dots! But even though I depleted my Bazzill stocks, I was fortunate enough to work with one of Kaisercraft's latest ranges, Up, Up and Away.
I was a little unsure about the carnival based range to begin with, but they were exactly what I needed to scrap some photos from a trip to Luna Park in Sydney. Previously I had not scrapped any of the photos from our two trips, so these photos are 4 and 5 years old! They were in my too hard basket, but I am so happy to have scrapped some now, and I have heaps of the range left over to scrap some more!

Before I go any further, I must mention my absolute favourite product from this range, the 3 pack of printed envelopes. Get them while you can because for $2.35 they are an amazing bargain and they wont last long!

Ok, on to the layouts!

This layout, Spin, uses the June sketch by Annette. You can find the sketch here.

For this layout, I turned the sketch on to it's side and went from there.

I added a few extra bits of paper, but overall it keeps to the sketch.

Cutting the chipboard button in half was a great way to create the half circle from the sketch.

The second layout I created, Fly, uses the July sketch which I designed myself. You can find the sketch in the forum, here.

I put the journaling in a different spot to the sketch as I didn't want to cover up those gorgeous hot air balloon rubons!

Also for this layout I cut into the 12x12 base just to mix it up a bit and create an interesting line of sight.

My third layout, The Carnival, makes use of the current monthly sketch, the August sketch based on forum member Anne-Marie's CC layout. You can see it here.

Get your entries in by the end of the month to be in the running for a prize!

I made use of the white space in the layout so I could use those delightful hot air balloon rubons again!

These are great layouts Beth; I love your use of this collection (great photos for this theme too) and as always I love looking forward to the challenges that you set for yourself! Thank you.

Newsletter Special: This week we are offering a 30% discount on Kaisercraft Beyond the Page, Metal Brads, Epoxy Brads, Flower Rhinestones, Picture and Word Rhinestones, Patterened Papers from pre 2010 collections. Make the most of these amazing bargains through to next Wednesday.

Wishing you all a great weekend and wonderful week.

Best regards,

Mary
