Hi from Helen
Hi all,
My name is Helen and I have been scrapping now for about 11 years. I also love card making and have just got into ATC's. My style is very low key - simple with not a lot of stuff and not very daring to try new stuff even after all this time.
I love to read and am addicted to Twilight. Have now read the whole series 5 times since I first picked it up in July 2009. Also love all sorts of other supernatural/magical themed novels and love recommendations from fellow readers.
I am a working mum with 2 girls - 1 of whom has ben published at age 6 and the other is pending publishing. Me not so fortunate but then you have to send it in to get there don't you.
Looking forward to getting to know some of you.
Cheers Helen. (aka hscraps)

Re: Hi from Helen
Hiya Helen & a big welcome . I can't wait to see some of your work! When I figure out how to upload mine (I'm not very technological savy I'm afraid ) & when I get the courage of course. I am relatively basic in style although am hoping to change/challenge myself just a little maybe. It's great that your 6 year old has been published - what an achievement! So where was she published & where is your other daughter work going to be published? How exciting on both counts
I've just finished reading the Twilight series for the 2nd time & I still love it & can't get enough. I got fed up with being on the reserve list at the library (& I work there) & bought the set for Xmas . I have watched twilight a zillion times - ok slight exageration & saw New Moon at the cinema on Saturday night. I loved it where Jacob took off his shirt LMAO - so did the whole cinema actually
I look forward to seeing you around

Re: Hi from Helen
Hi aura
thanks for the welcome. Goodie another Twilight-a-holic.
Emma was published in Scrapbooking Memories - Junior scrappers section a few months ago. if you have them it is a double layout of her with the kinder guinea pigs. she was actually 5 when she did the layout as she didn't turn 6 until after it was published. Sarah is 12 and received notification that her layout was to be published in the same mag, same section some time later but it still hasn't happened. Hmmm not sure why as they said it would be. Anyway she is very talented and has done canvases and loves ATC's also.
I had the twilight books on hold at my local library too and waited forever so just ended up buying them and had them all read before it was my turn to get the first one. lol. oh well they provide a good service and it is extremely popular.
I am currently reading the Morganville Vampire series and read the first book last night - yep the whole book in one go. Loving it too. Just started the 2nd one at breakfast.
I look forward to "meeting" you all too.
PS i grew up in North West NSW (Riverina) and still have family there so I am curious where you live.
Cheers. H

Re: Hi from Helen
Hi Helen, Welcome. I have been hanging around and annoying the girls here for about 5 months now (I think)....and I love it. The girls are all very warm and friendly and very talented - I have learnt heaps from them and tried lots of new things. I hope you have as much fun here as I do. Look forward to seeing some of your work.
PS: I have only just jumped on the Twighlight bandwagon and read the one book, awaiting the second now. I love fantasy books...Eragon, Lord of the Rings and things like that. If you are into that stuff I could probably recommend something.

Hi Helen,
I have not read any of the Twilight books, but I hope we can still be friends.
Seriously, I am unfortunately not a reader but am a Twilight movie fan. I love the cinamatography of the first movie, took my breath away at times....
Welcome!

Hi Helen! Welcome to Top 50!
I can't exactly say I'm a Twilinght fan, but I have a teenage DD who is. DD and I were invited out with some other moms and their daughters to go and see New Moon recently. Because I new nothing about Twilight my DD said I should read the first book and watch her DVD before I see New Moon, which I did. Must say that probably helped understanding the movie. After seeing New Moon, I then read the book and have just finished Eclipse as well. Now just waiting for DD to finish reading Breaking Dawn (for the 4th time ) and will give it a go. At least I will know what everybody is talking about!
You will love Top 50 and I hope you will join us in some of the challenges and share some of your work with us soon!

Hi Helen - wow what an achievement for emma - I somehow missed that issue it would've been great to see her work.
I haven't heard of the morganville vampire series - I should get onto the girls at work to order it in for me - oops I mean for the other members . I've just finished reading the final book of twilight I'll give it a few weeks & then I'll read it again I think LOL
I live in a "small" town called Tenterfield on the NSW/QLD border - over all it's a nice place but not much to do if you aren't into the pub scene. At least there is a cinema here - there was one many many moons ago apparently but it burnt down?????? So now we have one in the school of arts complex where the library is.We've had it for a couple years now I think.
Cheers Aura

Re: Hi from Helen
Hi girls,
Redant I have read all the Christopher Paolini (Eragon) books - amazing he was only 19 when he wrote that book. Also read LOTR about 6 times. If you like this genre you should try Terry Brooks - loads of books. Raymond E Feist - also loads of books. Sara Douglass - Australian author who has written loads of books - start with the Axis trilogy. I also loved Harry Potter series, Steven King and so many others. Any other book-a-holics out there I would love to swap authors and book lists as love getting new ideas on what to read next.
Aura you will love the Morganville Vampire series - it is action packed all the way. I read the whole 7 books while on holidays last week and the week before. The Vampire Academy series is also good.
currently reading - The Host - Stephenie Meyer (again).
Have a great day all.
