This challenge is based on the shabby chic style of scrapping. (One I am sure most of you have heard of but that many of you, like me, may not have attempted before.) Shabby chic is all about portraying an elegant, sophisticated feeling with a worn, homely distressed look. (Think big, old country houses with faded worn sofas, curtains, old paintwork, collections of cracked teacups and floral or lace bedspreads.) The overall effect is supposed to be that of being well worn and much loved.
Common techniques including crinkling, chalking / painting, distressing, inking, sanding, tearing, stitching – anything ragged or torn works well.
Your challenge is to create a shabby chic style layout incorporating the following techniques common to this style:
- Pale colours
- Distressing
- Fabric / lace
- Stitching
And the optional (bonus points) criteria for this challenge is to use buttons!
Here is my example layout, "Precious"...

The prize for this challenge is a $20 kit (with instructions) from our very own Scraphappy Kat!
All entries must be loaded in the “Not Too Shabby” folder in the Nov CC Gallery folder by midnight, November 25
